Larry Hogan, President Joe Biden, and former President Donald J. Trump. Likely voters were asked for their candidate preferences in the upcoming statewide general election contests.

Maryland voters were asked their opinions on the direction of the state, economic conditions, political figures and entities, key policy issues, the state of American democracy, elections, and the storming of the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Maryland voters were asked about their candidate preferences in the upcoming primary contests for attorney general and state comptroller.

Maryland residents were asked about their views on state priorities, direction, and spending; their perceptions on the current economic situation; and the legalization of recreational marijuana. Residents were also asked to rate Gov. Larry Hogan and President Joe Biden.

Maryland residents were asked about the coronavirus, including their views on how state and local officials and the Centers for Disease Control have handled the pandemic, their concern about contracting COVID-19 or a close family member contracting COVID-19, and the pace at which related mandates and restrictions are ending. Residents were also asked about the impact of climate change on several key items.

Maryland residents were polled about their views on various statewide issues, including the direction of the state, the current economic situation, and Gov. Larry Hogan, as well as their views on President Joe Biden and Sens. Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen. Residents were also asked their views on the legalization of recreational marijuana and abortion, government spending, visiting a state park, and whether Maryland was a Northern or Southern state.

Larry Hogan’s handling of the coronavirus, whether they have received the vaccine, their concern for themselves or a close family member getting the coronavirus, and when they expect to return to return to their normal, pre-COVID lives.

February 2020 Part 1 (PDF)
Maryland residents were polled on their views on various statewide issues, including the direction of and most important issue facing the state, how they viewed Maryland as a place to live and work, and their opinions toward Gov. Larry Hogan, the Maryland General Assembly, the Kirwan Commission, public education, and taxes. Residents were also asked whether they were concerned about an outbreak of a disease like the Coronavirus.

February 2020 Part 2 (PDF)
Maryland Democratic likely voters were asked about their presidential primary, how they viewed each Democratic presidential candidate, and their preferences toward candidate ideology and electability versus closeness of position on issues. The poll also asked all Maryland likely voters their preferences in general election matchups between President Donald Trump and each of the Democratic candidates.

September 2019 Part 1 (PDF)—This poll asked Maryland residents their views on the direction of and most important issue facing the state and the current and future economic situation in Maryland; Gov. Larry Hogan; state spending; the Kirwan Commission; and funding improvements in public education, roads and highways, and public transportation.

September 2019 Part 2 (PDF)—This poll asked Maryland residents about their views toward President Donald Trump’s job performance; former President Barack Obama; the Democratic and Republican Parties; the Affordable Care Act; capitalism and socialism; climate change; and Medicare-for-all. The poll also asked about America’s openness to people from all over the world and their satisfaction with American democracy.

September 2019 Part 3 (PDF)—This poll asked Maryland Democratic likely voters who they are currently planning to vote for in the Maryland Democratic presidential primary and their preferences toward candidate ideology and electability versus closeness of position on issues. The poll also asked Maryland Democratic likely voters how they viewed each candidate.

The Goucher Poll asked likely Maryland voters for their opinions regarding candidates for the US Senate race to replace retiring Senator Barbara Mikulski, and regarding candidates in the US Presidential race.  Likely voters were also asked about their frequency of political conversation and how many of their close friends were Republicans or Democrats.

The Goucher Poll asked Maryland residents for their perceptions of Governor Larry Hogan and the Maryland General Assembly; trust in state government; the most important issue facing and the direction of the state; Maryland as a place to live, work, and retire; transportation priorities; redistricting; marijuana; education funding; proposal to fund the removal of vacant buildings in Baltimore City; views of the Maryland Democratic Party and Maryland Republican Party; perceptions toward women in public office and communities and their police. Goucher Poll also asked likely Democratic voters for their opinions about the Democratic Presidential and Senatorial primaries.

Through partnerships with government and nonprofit entities, additional questions are included in the poll to shed light on issues that provide collective benefits to Marylanders. These poll data are the result of a collaborative research project with the Maryland Park Service on resident perceptions of Maryland state parks.
