Win Globally, Accept Locally: Dottie Campbell '74
What do you do if you win a prestigious international photography contest, and part of the prize is an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C.? If you are Dottie Campbell, you laugh.

Gopher Gone Wildcat: Clay Nunley '98
When Clay Nunley came back to Goucher earlier this spring for a basketball game, he would have been forgiven if, for a moment, he wasn't sure which side of the court to sit on. After all, throughout his college career, Nunley played basketball for Goucher -- even competing for the team in the NCAA tournament. Now, he was returning as the coach of the first men's basketball team at Randolph College in Lynchburg, VA.

Blue-Ribbon Spirit: Kate Fournel '04
Kate Fournel has spent the last two-and-a-half years in the northwest mountains of El Salvador, in a village called El Limo, helping farmers plant corn and tend bees, mixing cement to construct a community center, and picking cotton. She also has hiked through the mountains to help her neighbors grow chili peppers or tomatoes and has worked to organize
youth camps.

Long Happy Life: Helen Besley Overington '28 (Fall/Winter 2008)
Helen Besley Overington '28 is happy to discuss the key to a long and happy life.

Capturing a Moment: Claudia Dippolito Brookes '66 (Fall/Winter 2008)
Following in the footsteps of visionaries such as Claude Monet and Henri Matisse, Claudia Dippolito Bookes '66 took to the great outdoors last summer, paint brush in hand. While doing so, she won second place in the second annual Havre de Grace Plein Air painting competition in August 2007.

Pest Control: Jared Leadbetter '91, Ph.D. (Fall/Winter 2008)
Jared Leadbetter '91 has a termite problem. The insects aren't ruining his front porch or eating away at his kitchen floor. Instead they're consuming his thoughts: The microbiologist is investigating how termites digest wood. That research, he says, may provide insight into new ways of developing biofuels.

Natural Honors: Jean Reese Worthley '44 (Summer 2007)
In early October, a humble wood cottage will be dedicated at the Howard County Conservancy in Woodstock, MD. The location is a new--and fitting--one for the building, better known as the Hodgepodge Lodge, the setting for a popular 1970s syndicated children's television program, produced by Maryland Public Television, starring Jean Reese Worthley '44

Eastern Bloc to Community Block: Kristen Packard '92 (Summer 2007)
Kristen Packard '92 once had dreams of working as a Cold War spy, but she has found challenge and adventure in the warm Florida sunshine.

Blurring the Line: Tony "A.C." Evans '00 (Summer 2007)
When his brush connects with canvas, mixing oils with photographic images to create a painted collage, Tony "A.C." Evans '00 evokes a world that is captivating--and familiar. "I’m really inspired by everything," he says. "My subjects vary, but I mostly draw from my everyday experiences, interactions, conversations, songs,  and memories."
