Substance Abuse Awareness Board


Mission Statement:

The Substance Abuse Awareness Board is dedicated to developing alcohol, tobacco and other drug prevention programs and policies. We aim to foster student development in making responsible, healthy and informed choices when dealing with substance use in our community. We promote campus safety and personal well-being through awareness, education and intervention.


Goals:

  1. To identify key current issues related to substance use at Goucher College, utilizing a variety of data-collection methods.
  2. To provide long and short term strategies to address the identified issues.
  3. To develop and implement programming to educate community members regarding the physical and psychological effects, as well as the social and criminal repercussions, of substance use.
  4. To provide information and available resources for students seeking help with substance related issues.
  5. To communicate and collaborate with other student offices and departments that are seeking assistance with ATOD issues.

Objectives:

Objectives for the 2008 to 2009 academic year include initiatives in the areas of drug and alcohol policies, data collection, programming.
