International Education Week

Goucher College will celebrate International Education Week from Monday, November 16, through Friday, November 20, with a series of free events that highlight the importance and benefits of international education.

Monday, November 16
International Fair
10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Pearlstone Atrium
The fair will feature off-campus vendors, including Ten Thousand Villages, and a variety of Goucher’s international clubs and organizations.

Defining the Global Citizen
7 p.m.
Buchner Hall, Alumnae/i House
During this campus-wide discussion about studying abroad students will share their experiences, their expectations, and what they feel it means to be a “global citizen.”

Tuesday, November 17
“And the Wall Came Tumbling Down: Berlin 1989”
7:30 p.m.
Buchner Hall, Alumnae/i House
Christoph Eichhorn, head of the Political Department at the German Embassy in Washington D.C., will give this talk to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall and examine why it is still relevant today. For more information, click here.

Wednesday, November 18
Screening and Dinner Discussion of The Boys of Baraka
6 p.m.
Pinkard Center, Athenaeum
This 2005 documentary follows 20 at-risk boys from Baltimore as they spend seventh and eighth grade at a boarding school in Baraka, Kenya.

Thursday, November 19
Arabian Nights
9-10:30 p.m.
Pearlstone Student Center Café and Private Dining Room
Experience a Persian tea room and belly dancing at this fun multicultural event.

Friday, November 20
International Extravaganza
7 p.m.
Hyman Forum, Athenaeum
Celebrate Goucher community members' native traditions and cultures through a showcase of international performing arts and cuisine.
