COVID Update
Dear Goucher Community,
Over the past six days, we’ve seen a dramatic increase locally and nationally in the
number of positive new COVID cases due to the extremely fast-spreading Omicron variant.
Knowing this, Goucher is doing its part over the next four weeks to ensure a safe
and successful return to campus for the Spring semester. Please see below for a list
of important updates:
- To reduce our population density on campus, Goucher is transitioning to a remote work
environment, as possible, from December 24 - January 23, returning to campus on January
24. Employees should bring home all necessary equipment to work virtually before leaving
for winter break.
- All J-Term classes will be held virtually, with some hybrid instruction. Faculty will
be in touch with students registered for J-Term with further details in the next week.
- We anticipate employing testing mandates before our full return to campus on January
24. More information will be forthcoming the week of January 3.
- COVID booster shots will be required for all faculty, staff, and students (exceptions
for those with approved medical or religious exemptions) by January 26, 2022 or as
eligible; documentation will be required.
- All external events will be canceled, moved online, or postponed, and visitors and
guests to campus will be prohibited until housing move-in on Saturday, January 29,
2022. This includes spectators to athletic events.
- After move-in, no guests will be permitted within the residence halls during the first three weeks of classes (until February 21, 2022.)
We are thankful that the large majority of our campus community is vaccinated and
feel confident that these measures, in addition to consistently adhering to all masking
and social distancing guidelines, will ensure a successful spring semester on campus
for everyone.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Health Center or the Office
of Human Resources.
Best wishes for a safe and healthy winter break!
