COVID-19 Update
Dear Goucher community,
As we continue to restore the full range of athletic competition, student experiences,
and cultural events that make life on Goucher’s campus so rewarding, we also want
to remind everyone to please continue to remain vigilant in your efforts to stay healthy
and do your part in stemming the transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 virus on campus by
wearing your masks indoors whenever possible.
At this time, we are leaving our mask optional policy in place. However, we’ve recently
seen a slight uptick in the local positivity rate to 2.5%, and while still very low,
we don’t want to lose ground after making so much progress this past year.
Johns Hopkins University recently reinstated their mandatory masking policy after
an outbreak of 100 COVID cases on their campus this week. Also, we received news of
our first positive wastewater test in over five weeks, plus three new positive COVID
cases (1 student and 2 faculty/staff) causing those individuals to have to isolate
at home.
In addition to the normal testing processes, The Student Health Center will offer
optional testing for any student who wants to get tested on Monday, April 11. Students
may sign up here. Students should continue to contact the Student Health Center if they develop any
symptoms of COVID-19 for evaluation and testing.
Let’s all stay vigilant and ensure that we can end the spring semester without any
further issues. Thank you again for your cooperation. As always, please reach out
with any questions.
Be well.
