Keeping Yourself and Your Loved Ones Healthy
Dear Goucher Faculty, Staff and Students,
As the semester winds down and we move into the winter holiday season, we want to
take a minute to remind everyone of good practices to keep yourself and your loved
ones healthy and safe this time of year.
Two of the most effective ways to keep yourself and others safe during the cold/flu
season are vaccination and masking. Other good health habits like avoiding people
who are sick, covering your cough, and washing your hands often can help stop the
spread of germs and prevent respiratory illnesses.
If you haven’t received your booster yet, consider doing that now to protect yourself
and your loved ones this holiday season. The Student Health Center’s website has a list of pharmacies close to campus that provide the flu and COVID-19 vaccines.
If you are sick, please wear a mask, stay away from others as much as possible, and
follow the guidance of your healthcare provider. Students can make an appointment
with the Student Health Center (SHC) by emailing nurse@goucher.edu or calling 410-337-6050. If you do test positive for COVID-19, fill out the illness reporting form as soon as possible. The SHC will contact students who have tested positive and provide
them with information about the isolation process. Human Resources will likewise do
the same for all employees. The SHC will also notify the associate provost’s office
of the dates a student will be out of class, and the associate provost will notify
the student’s professors.
If you are exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, please follow
the CDC guidelines of masking for 10 days following the exposure and testing on day six or sooner if
experiencing COVID-like symptoms. If you test positive following your exposure, please
complete the steps listed above.
Thank you, and best wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season.
