I hope that you and those close to you are staying well, and staying home to protect yourself and others. I have some important information and reminders to share with you today; some are COVID-related and some are just reminders as we move forward into late spring and summer.

These past few weeks have been incredibly trying and have put a strain on all of us. Our global community is suddenly facing a new reality--one that physically separates us, while at the same time making the reality of our common humanity and interconnectedness all the more evident. Global pandemics transcend national boundaries.

As promised, given that the prospect of holding a traditional commencement ceremony at the end of this semester is no longer possible, we have begun exploring several alternate options for Commencement. Following my previous email, I heard from a number of you who made it very clear to me that you want an in-person, on-campus commencement celebration.

Now that we know definitively Goucher students will not be returning to campus this spring, we are in a much better position to answer many of the questions that have been raised regarding how we will be compensating students for housing and meal plans that won't be used this semester.

We are writing to clarify the message sent yesterday regarding the opportunity to move out of residence halls. Please note that we are offering this opportunity, not mandating it. There is no expectation from Goucher for anyone to pick up belongings over the next few days, it is simply an option for those that are interested.
