Continued Good News about COVID Guidance for the Spring Semester
Dear Goucher Community,
It has been wonderful to see so many of you back on campus this week. As a result of the Goucher community adhering to protocols and the continuing decline in positivity rates in Baltimore County, we are further revising the current restrictions on campus.
I’m pleased to announce that beginning this Saturday, February 12, we will allow spectators on campus to cheer on the Goucher Gophers women’s and men’s basketball teams in their penultimate home games of the season! All spectators must be masked. We are looking forward to welcoming fans back to the Decker Sports & Recreation Center once again to cheer on our teams. As always, we require all guests to be masked whenever indoors, preferably N95, KN95, or KF94 masks, but surgical type masks may also be used.
In addition, as stated in my email last week, we will resume all in-person classes on Monday, February 14. Other additional changes that will take effect on February 14 are:
- The gatehouse will now admit guests to campus without requiring prior notification, including community members, spectators, and invited guests.
- Masked guests will now be welcome to enter all academic and administrative buildings and public spaces.
- Residential students may have inter-hall visitation as well as commuter student visitation within the halls. On March 1, the determination will be made about outside guests visiting within the halls.
- And, we will resume hosting public events once again beginning February 20th, with all speakers and spectators expected to wear masks.
Please continue to check the COVID dashboard for updates. As the CDC updates its guidance on facemasks, we too will update our guidance accordingly. I am hopeful that as pandemic continues to subside, we will be able to remove previously necessary restrictions in a timely manner.
Most of all, I am confident heading into this semester that we have proven that being responsible community members will allow us to enjoy connecting and learning in person for the remainder of this academic year.
Thank you for your cooperation and support. As always, please reach out to the COVID Task Force at COVIDTaskForce@goucher.edu with any questions.
Be well,
Kent
