The M.Ed. Program, with nine areas of specialization, meets the needs of today’s educators and their students by offering a 21st-century curriculum responsive to the challenges that educators and school administrators face every day. To understand the needs and motivations of students and help them overcome obstacles to learning within their environments, educators require specialized preparation.
Goucher’s M.Ed. Program provides this specialized preparation for educators who work
in classrooms, schools and district offices, particularly in the areas of special
education, reading instruction, and school leadership. The program is designed to
equip school professionals with the tools, skills, and knowledge they need to facilitate
and support student success and engagement.
Nine areas of specialization
Goucher College’s master of education degree and professional development certificates prepare educators in a wide range of specializations. With curricula specially designed to integrate theoretical and practical coursework, the master of education and post-master's certificate programs are divided into nine areas of specialization:

- Athletic Program Leadership & Administration
- ESOL - Teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages
- Literacy Strategies for Content Learning
- Reading Instruction (MSDE-approved for Reading Specialist certification)

The total estimated program cost for the Master of Education program ranges from $23,500
- $26,000, based on the current tuition and fees for the 2024-2025 academic year. Acceptance to the program will be based on an evaluation of the applicant's work and
experience, essay, recommendation forms and transcripts. Applications are accepted
on a rolling basis.
