Demand and Growth

Overall, the Bureau of Labor and Statistics estimates that the field will grow by 25 percent through the end of the decade. Adding the special education component to this degree—a Maryland area of critical shortage – adds even more value to the Goucher BPS in terms of meeting state and regional education needs.

The Early Childhood education professional in today’s job market can expect a starting salary of about $25,700. Those who pursue leadership positions within daycares, pre-schools and similar environments, can expect a salary that starts considerably higher. Those professionals will typically earn about $46,890 per year on average.
