Goucher Psychology Research Presented at the EPA 2018 Conference
Earlier this month, a number of Goucher students and faculty traveled to Philadelphia to attend the 2018 Conference of the Eastern Psychological Association in Philadelphia.
Earlier this month, a number of Goucher students and faculty traveled to Philadelphia to attend the 2018 Conference of the Eastern Psychological Association in Philadelphia.
Goucher President José Bowen was also present, giving the Social Psychology Keynote Address, titled: Technology, The Liberal Arts and the New Learning Economy: Supporting Student Development.
Dr. Jennifer McCabe, Associate Professor of Psychology at Goucher, gave a symposium presentation about learning strategies in the classroom (Making it Stick in Cognitive Psychology) and a second symposium presentation co-authored with Albee Mendoza of Wesley College, on publishing in the Psi Chi Journal of Psychological Research (First-Time Submissions: Excitement With a Hint of Terror).
Several of Goucher Psychology’s research teams also participated in the conference by giving poster presentations. Dr. Dara Friedman-Wheeler’s lab presented their French Version of The Coping Expectancies Scale: Translation and Evaluation. Goucher students Michaela Finley (‘18), Juliet Daisy Mitchell (‘18), and Anne Werkheiser (‘18) presented this poster, which was also co-authored by Uliana Bilash and David C. Zuroff of McGill University.
Dr. Gillian Starkey’s team, which includes Goucher students Anna Young (‘18) and John Gyimesi (‘19), gave two poster presentations: Neural Markers of Semantic Knowledge During Enumeration are Linked to Counting Fluency and Hemispheric Differences in EEG Activity During Enumeration are Related to Subitizing Ability.
Dr. Jennifer McCabe’s research team presented their poster which examined, What Learning Strategies Do Academic Support Centers Recommend to Undergraduates? Goucher students Scotty Lind (‘18), Samuel Kane-Gerard (‘18), Megan Hopkins (‘18), Jamie Spell (‘18), Adrianne Turner (‘18), and Sarah Lummis (‘17) co-authored this presentation.
