Congrats to Goucher Psychology Class of 2024

We are proud to share some of our recent psychology major graduates’ honors, experiences, and future directions!

  • Psychology grad Belle St. Jean receiving the Wiley Prize at Convocation 2024.

  • Cleo Kaprielian and Aviva Dalton present their poster at a recent convention.

  • Laura Juda and Professor DeWyngaert share a hug infront of their research poster.

First a sincere congratulations to the three psychology majors who were honored at the May 2024 Convocation Awards ceremony: Belle St. Jean was awarded The Ruth C. Wiley Prize in Psychology, Autumn Krist won The Richard Pringle Prize in Critical Psychology, and Aisis Plant’e received The Prize for Excellence in Psychology

Turning now to the variety of experiences and future directions our graduates had during their time at Goucher, this included hands-on experience in internships, including at the following sites: Maryland Anxiety Center, Housing and Services Inc., Pro Bono Counseling, Crisis Text Line, Dream Catcher Meadows Green Care Farm, University of Birmingham Psychopharmacology Lab, Roland Park Country School, and Play Centers.

We think it’s incredible that about 75% of our graduates were part of a faculty-mentored research team, and as a result 17 graduating seniors co-authored at least one research poster/presentations at local, regional, or national/international conferences!

Our graduates studied abroad in locales such as the Netherlands, Scotland, England, Costa Rica, Span, Germany, New Zealand, Balkans, Australia, Austria, Bali, and Greece. While abroad, they took a variety of psychology classes including Emotion and Cognition, Sexology, Social and Organizational Psychology, The Adolescent Brain, Psychotherapy, Psychology of Murder, Sports Psychology, How We Learn, Applied Psychology, Motivation and Emotion, Personality and Personal Differences, Social Psychology, Special Topics in Visual Illusions, Motor Functions, Cross-Cultural Psychology, Forensic Psychology, and Forensic Psychology.
