Recent Articles Published by Goucher Alums

First, Goucher alum Emily Carlson ('15) was first author for an article titled, "The Effects of the Therapeutic Workplace and Heavy Alcohol Use on Homelessness Among Homeless Alcohol-Dependent Adults." The article discusses the association between alcohol dependence and homelessness, and that targeting heavy drinking and alcohol use may be another important aspect of treating and reducing homelessness. Associate Professor Dr. Dara Friedman-Wheeler, who mentored Emily when she was an undergraduate, was also a co-author. The article was published in the November 2016 issue of Drug and Alcohol Dependence.

Second, Goucher alum Emily (Emmy) Wyckoff ('15) co-authored an article that was recently published in the January 2016 issue of Appetite, titled "Slowing Down and Taking a Second Look: Inhibitory Deficits Associated with Binge Eating Are Not Food-Specific." The authors analyze lack of inhibitory control in regards to food stimuli and to other stimuli, in people who engage in binge eating. The full citations for both articles are listed below. Emmy was mentored by Associate Professor of Psychology Katherine Choe during her time at Goucher.
