President Bowen and Goucher Alumnus Named Influential Marylanders
Goucher College President José Antonio Bowen has been included on the list of 2018 Influential Marylanders by The Daily Record. The honorees were selected for their significant contributions to their respective fields and for their leadership in Maryland.
“This year’s Influential Marylanders are successful and engaged leaders who constantly work to improve our lives, our state, and our future. What they do makes a difference for many of us in Maryland,” said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, publisher of The Daily Record. “They are at the pinnacle of their chosen professions. They are visionary. They are respected. The Daily Record is pleased to honor them.”
In addition to this honor, President Bowen also recently received the Ernest L. Boyer Award from the New American Colleges & Universities for his contributions to American higher education, his work as an advocate for the liberal arts, and his innovative teaching methods.
Also included on this year’s list of Influential Marylanders was Jorge Castillo ’99, chairman, Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and CEO, ¡Onward! Estrategias. Castillo was recognized for his civic leadership. He was recently featured as a "Problem Solver" in Goucher Magazine.
