Recent alum receives Fulbright grant
This summer, the US-UK Fulbright Commission announced their 2023-24 Fulbright Award grantees, who will be part of a cultural exchange between the UK and USA. Among them was Wynn Aung Myint ’21, who received a Fulbright Graduate Degree Grant/Postgraduate Grant. The grant will fund a master’s degree at SOAS University of London for one year.
At Goucher, Myint majored in international relations and French transnational studies. “At SOAS, I will be pursuing a M.Sc. in violence, conflict, and development—it is connected to my work in the international development and humanitarian aid space for the past two years,” said Myint, who had letters of recommendation from three Goucher professors.
“I truly could not have done it without them,” he said.
Myint’s undergraduate research focused on post-conflict justice and reconciliation, responses to genocide and mass atrocities, and the legacy of colonization on nation-building in the Global South. “I’m excited about this opportunity to participate in a scholarship program that delivers real impact, advancing human knowledge and tackling global challenges,” said Myint.
More of Myint’s story can be found on the US-UK Fulbright Commission website.
