Goucher College receives grant from Burroughs Wellcome Fund
The Burroughs Wellcome Fund (BWF), an organization aiming to serve and strengthen society by nurturing a diverse group of leaders in biomedical sciences to improve human health through education, has awarded Goucher College funds to collaborate with Stevenson University to further develop their long-standing Collaborative Teaching Fellows Program (CTFP) partnership with Johns Hopkins University and the University of Maryland.
The grant leadership team includes Verónica Segarra (Principal Investigator, Goucher Biological Sciences and Chemistry faculty member), William Harder (co-PI, Director of CAST), Rivka Glaser (co-PI, Goucher alumna and Stevenson Biology faculty), and CAST staff member Jamie Batts. These grant activities build on the work of Judy Levine (Goucher Biological Sciences and Chemistry faculty member) who has served as liaison between Goucher and the CTFP since Goucher joined the program.
Through this Career Guidance for Trainees grant, the cross-institutional grant leadership team will spearhead the development of an adaptable and sustainable model for faculty career exploration at primarily undergraduate institutions and small liberal arts colleges like Goucher and Stevenson.
