More than 100 business and education leaders discussed ways to create long term success.
More than 100 leaders of international, national, and local businesses joined together for the Goucher College Business Circle with keynote speaker Bill Stromberg, president and CEO of T. Rowe Price. Hosted by Dr. José Antonio Bowen, Goucher College president, the event brought together business professionals, educators, and students to discuss ways to create long term success.
“Talented, committed people who really care about the team are a must,” said Mr. Stromberg. He continued to advise the group gathered at the event that, “great organizations excel at continuous process improvement… empower your people to improve everything.”
Mr. Stromberg, who has been with T. Rowe Price for 32 years, also discussed how people, process, culture, and change can be added together as a formula for an organization’s long term success. He advocated that through authentic leadership and developing an adaptive culture, organizations are better equipped to grow and thrive, even in disruptive times.
Joining Mr. Stromberg and Dr. Bowen at the event were Whitney Harmel, director of strategic partnerships, Maryland Chamber of Commerce; Ed Joffe, vice president, Whiting-Turner; Peter Fenwik, owner, Zenmar Tools; Swata Gandhi, vice president and general counsel, DAP Products; Pat Collins, founding partner and managing director, Greenspring Advisors; Brandon Simpson, property manager, Palisades of Towson, and many other prominent guests. The event connects a diverse group of successful business leaders and emphasizes the highly-educated talent pool in the area.
“Goucher is working to prepare students for the jobs of the future – jobs that don’t even exist yet. We are focused on how students learn,” said Dr. Bowen. “What we really want are students who graduate being able to learn new things and we do this through our new three Rs approach to learning – relationships, resilience, and reflection.”
The next Goucher College Business Circle is scheduled to take place in fall 2018.
