Jennifer da Rosa named inaugural director of M.A. in Environmental Sustainability and Management program
The program aims to develop leaders prepared to collaborate across disciplines to address the complex ecological and societal aspects of environmental challenges, creating the foundation to realize a healthy planet and healthy communities now and for generations to come.
Jennifer da Rosa, Ed.D has been named the inaugural director of the Environmental Sustainability and Management graduate program at Goucher College.
She is an Assistant Professor of Education with a specialization in climate change education. Her background includes work in geology, oceanography, and science education, specializing in climate change misconceptions.
Prior to arriving at Goucher College, da Rosa served as the Assistant Program Director for Johns Hopkins University’s MS in Environmental Sciences and Policy and MS in Energy Policy and Climate programs, taught as an instructor with the United States Naval Academy’s STEM Center for Education and Outreach, and served as a civilian oceanographer for the Naval Oceanographic Office’s Warfighting Support Center at Stennis Space Center, Mississippi.
The M.A. in Environmental Sustainability and Management combines natural and social sciences courses into a cohesive framework, training students to assess environmental threats, mitigate those threats, and communicate the effectiveness of those strategies to decision-makers and communities.

As she prepares for the program's launch, da Rosa says she is delighted to establish the M.A.
“This is a pivotal time for environmental action and graduate education. This program will graduate leaders in sustainability and environmental management that will work to address some of our greatest challenges,” da Rosa says. “I am also pleased to be able to share my passion for and curiosity about the Earth with graduates and undergraduates at Goucher through the courses I teach.”
