Trustee to be Honored by the Legal Aid Society

Goucher College Trustee Richard J. Davis will be honored with the 2018 Servants of Justice Award from The Legal Aid Society. Davis will be celebrated for his contributions to New York City’s justice system at The Legal Aid Society’s 41st Annual Awards Dinner on May 10, 2018. The Legal Aid Society works to ensure that no New Yorker is denied their right to equal justice because of poverty.

Davis, who currently serves as Chair of the Board for The Legal Aid Society, has been practicing law for more than 35 years. Before opening his own law firm, he was a partner at Weil Gotshal and Manges LLP for 30 years. Prior to that he served as an Assistant Secretary of the Treasury, Enforcement and Operations, an Assistant Watergate Special Prosecutor, and an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of New York.

Davis was elected to Goucher’s Board of Trustees in 2015 and is Chair of the Audit and Governance Committee. In addition to serving on the boards of Goucher and the Legal Aid Society, Davis has also served as board chair for Citizens Union, Randall’s Island Park Alliance, and the Mayor’s Commission to Combat Police Corruption.
