"What I like most about being a special education teacher are the students," says Rosensweet.
Rachel Rosensweet M.A.T. ’17, a special education teacher at Kennedy Krieger in Baltimore (her hometown), is the recipient of the Elizabeth Dean Special Education Award.
Each year the award is given to a Master of Arts in Teaching graduate who is earning certification in special education teaching. Rosensweet received the award for her strong commitment to excellence, high regard for student potential, consistently positive outlook, exceptional collegial and communication skills, and effective planning for program improvement.
"What I like most about being a special education teacher are the students. From my first day as a program aide I knew I wanted to make a difference in these students’ lives," says Rosensweet.
"Goucher has helped me develop as a special education teacher because of the passion and dedication that my teachers and classmates displayed in the program. Everyone in your class brings so much experience, knowledge, and dedication that you can learn so much from the people you sit next to."
