Goucher recognized for teaching excellence, global education, and social mobility in U.S. News & World Report rankings
High-quality teaching, a commitment to global education, and providing an equitable and valuable education to students are hallmarks of a Goucher College education, and the 2024 U.S. News & World Report college rankings once again affirm that Goucher is one of the best national liberal arts colleges in the United States.
In addition to being named one of the best national liberal arts colleges, Goucher was also recognized as one of the most innovative schools, one of the best liberal arts colleges for undergraduate teaching, having one of the best study-abroad programs, and being a top performer on social mobility for students.
“The value of a Goucher College education is transformational and provides a significant ROI for our students,” said Goucher College President Kent Devereaux. “We are proud to be recognized as a national leader in the liberal arts and for our work in cultivating students to become global changemakers through our innovative curriculum and exceptional faculty.”
Goucher continues to strengthen its academic partnerships for students through expanded academic and post-graduate opportunities with other notable institutions, including Columbia University, Johns Hopkins University, Loyola University Maryland, and Middlebury College. These partnerships include dual-degree undergraduate and graduate programs and accelerated graduate pathways.
For the new academic year, Goucher College has also announced the appointment of 11 new faculty members who teach in various fields, including communication and media studies, chemistry, data science, environmental studies, and Judaic studies.
Over the past year, Goucher also announced its new Campus Master Plan, which envisions the future of the 287-acre campus over the next 15 years and proposes a more student-centered, accessible, and sustainable vision for Goucher’s future.
Goucher’s distinct undergraduate experience includes the Commons core curriculum focused on solving complex problems, including social and environmental injustices; 29 academic majors, each with a capstone experience; 100% study abroad through 100 international opportunities in 40-plus countries as part of an integrated global education; and the Internship Accelerator, which offers four years of career-relevant experience. Every Goucher student also has an individualized Student Success Team to support and guide their self-discovery in and out of the classroom.
The U.S. News & World Report rankings build on recent recognition for Goucher by the Princeton Review, which named Goucher in The Best 389 Colleges.
