AAGC Constitution

The Constitution was most recently updated and ratified at the April 24, 2021 annual meeting of the AAGC over Alumnae/i Weekend

SUMMARY OF APPROVED CHANGES (as of 4.24.21):

  • Amendment 1
    To improve how we report out what happens at our Board meetings, including a new webpage highlighting items immediately following board meetings.

    ARTICLE V – MEETINGS
    Section 4. Minutes.

    Current language: “The Secretary shall make minutes of each meeting available to all members of the AAGC via the Alumni Central website.”

    Proposed change: “The Secretary shall submit meeting and retreat highlights, which will then be made available to all members of the AAGC via the alumni website. Full Minutes shall be made available to any member of the AAGC upon request in a manner deemed appropriate by the Secretary and College Staff.”

  • Amendment 2
    To clarify the difference between liaisons positions that serve as officers (Admissions, Annual Giving) and those who do not (Athletics, other potential roles moving forward)

    ARTICLE VI – OFFICERS
    Section 1. Offices.

    Rename the “Admissions Liaison” and the “Annual Giving Liaison” positions to “Admissions Officer” and “Annual Giving Officer”

  • Amendment 3
    To create language that allows the AAGC to create non-officer liaison positions, including our existing Athletics Liaison role, and potential future options (such as a AAGC Liaison for the Center for Race, Equity and Identity).

    ARTICLE VII – BOARD OF DIRECTORS
    Add new section “Section 6. Campus Liaison Positions”

    The Board may create positions that directly link to key areas of campus to provide direct communication to the AAGC Board. Liaisons will be selected from current directors of the AAGC Board. Terms will be for a one-year appointment that may be renewable for up to three years.

  • Amendment 4
    To clarify that members of the Public Service Committee are elected by our peers, bringing these positions in line with the rest of the AAGC leadership structure's election process

    ARTICLE XI - COMMITTEES
    Section 3. Public Service Committee.

    Current language: “Members of the committee are appointed by the current AAGC president, with the advice and consent of the AAGC board of Directors.”

    Proposed change: “Members of the committee are selected through the Nominating Committee and voted into a three-year term at the AAGC Annual Meeting.”
