With the transition of Dr. Jasmine Lee, the Office of Equity & Inclusive Excellence will be led in an interim basis by Dr. Isabel Moreno-López and Rev. Maeba Jonas. Dr. Isabel Moreno-López is a professor of Spanish and Latin American Studies and the Associate Provost for Undergraduate Studies, and she has been at Goucher since 2002. During AY24-25, Dr. Moreno-López will lead the DEIJ Campus Coordinating Committee; and will support programmatic and academic functions of LAUNCH, Title IX and CREI.

Rev. Maeba Jonas
Chaplain and Director of Religious & Spiritual Life

Rev. Maeba Jonas began her time as the Chaplain and Director of Religious & Spiritual Life at Goucher in 2021. She has served in higher education chaplaincy for 10+ years and is trained as an interfaith chaplain and educator. Rev. Maeba is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ (UCC) and serves on the Board of the Association for Chaplaincy and Spiritual Life in Higher Education. In addition to talking with students about their spiritual dreams, Maeba enjoys meditation, yoga, hiking and spending time with her partner and two young children.

Melissa Alexander possesses a decade in higher education with previous experiences in residence life, opportunity and access, and student life. As an individual and professional, Melissa values a positive attitude, collaboration, communication, respect, and hard work. Melissa is a proud graduate of the Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP), a program like LAUNCH, which afforded her the opportunity to pursue an undergraduate education. Melissa’s personal experience in HEOP and professional experiences supporting other opportunity programs inform her current work with the LAUNCH Scholars Network.

Originally from Binghamton, NY, Melissa earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Siena College and Master of Arts in Higher Education and Student Affairs from The Ohio State University. Melissa enjoys all things basketball and can be found watching basketball or playing NBK 2K. She also enjoys watching documentaries, The Golden Girls, and online shopping for new socks!

Deputy Title IX Coordinator

Kirsten is an experienced Deputy Title IX Coordinator with a deep commitment to exploring new strategies to build better, more loving, and equitable communities. Kirsten came to Goucher in 2022 and has since implemented numerous college-wide efforts to enhance protective factors to prevent instances of sexual and intimate partner violence. Kirsten’s work focuses on trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and pleasure-centered sex and relationships education. More than anything else, Kirsten loves facilitating fun and engaging programs for curious students.

Before their time at Goucher, Kirsten completed their undergraduate degree at New College of Florida - a small liberal arts honors college in Sarasota, Florida. They went on to complete a Master of Science in College Student Affairs at Nova Southeastern University.

In addition to her professional expertise, Kirsten is passionate about staying connected to nature and creativity. Her weekends and evenings often include hiking, gardening, DIY projects, watching movies, and spending time with loved ones.

Catia Rembert is a Philadelphia native passionate about education and creating welcoming and affirming environments for students. Her background includes a B.A in Communication Studies and an M.S. in Higher Education Policy and Student Affairs from West Chester University. As the Assistant Director of the Center for Race, Equity and Identity (CREI), Catia leads programming and initiatives that help to create a culturally aware and inclusive Goucher community. Resources and programming offered in CREI include – The Gender Affirming Closet, Preferred Name Policy, Affinity Spaces and Graduation Ceremonies, and Registered Student Organization Advising.
