Volunteer for GPEP
The Goucher Prison Education Partnership is made up of partners. We welcome you to join us as a partner in this important work!
What do GPEP volunteers do?
- Tutor in the prisons. We have had tutors help with critical reading and writing, math, art, Spanish, science, and more.
- Serve as research assistants for GPEP faculty. Volunteer research assistants work one-on-one with professors to bridge the gap between resources available in the library on the main campus and students in the prisons.
- Provide administrative support in GPEP’s office on Goucher College’s Towson campus. This can include organizing materials for a class, preparing letters for mailing, coordinating data in an Excel file, and more.
- Help former students who have come home with their college application process.
How can I learn more?
Attend one of the information sessions we hold four times a year. Our next sessions will be held on Goucher's Towson campus on:
- Sunday, October 20, 2024, 2:00 - 5:00 PM (October 20th registration and information)
- Sunday, November 10, 2024, 2:00 - 5:00 PM (November 10th registration and information)
Check out our videos below to hear about what it’s like to volunteer. Email us at
GPEPvolunteers@goucher.edu with questions or to get on the list for an information session.
What if I’m not a Goucher student, can I still volunteer?
Yes! Our volunteers include:
- Goucher students
- Students from other local colleges and universities
- Community members of all ages.
Is there an age limit?
There is no age limit for most volunteer roles. To volunteer inside the prison, you
must be at least 19 years old and have earned 28+ college credits.
