We're #GoucherProud that @goucher.dance represented us at the 2025 @acda_dance Mid-Atlantic Conference. With 23 talented dancers, they presented student works by Nalani Brown and Sam Koseff, along with a guest artist piece by George Staib. We're also honored that 'Pink Yearnings' by Sam Koseff and 'ugly duckling' by George Staib were selected as two of only ten works, out of 48 presented, to be featured in the gala concert. Congratulations to our dancers for their outstanding performances and achievements at this conference.

We’re #GoucherProud that Goucher senior Kimberly Vasquez and Director Jennifer Quijano Sax attended the 2025 NAFSA Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill. They met with the offices of Rep. Jamie Raskin (MD-08), Sen. Chris Van Hollen, and Rep. Johnny Olszewski (MD-02), advocating for programs like Gilman and Fulbright, as well as for continued protections for international students. Kimberly shared her personal journey as a past Gilman recipient and current Fulbright semi-finalist. Great job, everyone!

Our students farmed around and found out just how fun wellness can be at this year’s Happiness Hunt! Gophers explored positive psychology strategies while shopping for plants, perusing candles and art, cuddling up with therapy animals, and so much more. Huge thanks to the Student Counseling Center and our amazing campus offices for turning joy, mindfulness, and community support into a celebration we won’t forget.

This month’s global changemaker is Wondemneh Pawlose! Pawlose studied International Relations before graduating in 2019. They affirm that the skills they learned as a Gopher helped them in graduate school and beyond, even now as a Program Officer at the Center for International Private Enterprise. Pawlose says, 'I was taught to be a leader and a critical thinker at Goucher, something I continue to build on throughout the years. At Goucher, I was encouraged to be authentic. I continue to stay true to my values and use my voice to derive change in my work.' Amazing to hear, Wondemneh!

Our 19th annual Jewell Robinson Dinner was a night to remember, bringing together alumnae/i, students, and friends to celebrate the rich legacy of Goucher's Black community. With 130 guests in attendance, the evening showcased powerful reflections, honored Kimberley Gordy '06 as this year's Marguerite Barland Award recipient, featured vibrant student musical performances, and reinforced a shared commitment to supporting future generations. This weekend @gouchertfxc First Year Nancy Nyadongo was awarded Women’s Rookie of the Year and Womens Track Performer of the Year. She became the first athlete to win both honors since 2013, becoming the second Gopher to win two major-postseason awards. #goucherproud

Cameron Riegel lives in Baltimore and works at the Enoch Pratt Free Library while completing his master’s degree in Environmental Sustainability & Management at Goucher College. He is excited to see the rich unique cultural and historic traditions of Nepal, as well the incredible natural diversity of the country. We’re #GoucherProud of Shelby Meek ’25 for completing their internship with Baltimore Witness. This internship inspired Shelby to 'implement journalistic styles into assignments. If I want to become a journalist or a reporter, I must find ways to work on the skills I have developed at the internship.' We’re #GoucherProud to hear that @gpep.goucher received a $355,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Education. This is thanks to the support from U.S. senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen and U.S. Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger. ICYMI: The Goucher Prison Education Partnership (GPEP) offers a bachelor’s degree to individuals incarcerated at the Maryland Correctional Institution for Women (MCIW) and the Maryland Correction Institution Jessup (MCIJ).
