MS 0020 Alberta H. & Henry G. Burke Papers & Jane Austen Research Collection, 1811-1996 

Correspondence, scrapbooks, journal, magazine, and newspaper articles on Jane Austen; and memorabilia collected by the Burkes over their lifetimes. View Finding Aid.

MS 0028 Jane Austen Society of North America Archives

The Jane Austen Society of North America (JASNA) was founded in 1979 by Joan Austen-Leigh, Henry G. Burke, and J. David Grey, all members of the Chawton, England-based Jane Austen Society.  The founders met in England during celebrations of the bi-centennial of Jane Austen’s birth in 1975 and later decided to create a similar organization for fans of Jane Austen based in North America. The Archives consists of Jane Austen Society of North America, Inc.'s operational records including records of meetings, correspondence, publications, finances, and local chapter information.  Included in the Archives are the collections of  J. David Grey  and Jean Long.

MS 0048  Clive Caplan's Collection of Henry Austen and Jane Austen

Clive Caplan, a JASNA life member, collected materials on Henry Austen's (Jane's brother) life in military, financial, and political arenas as well as the historical background of Jane Austen’s work and life. 

MS 0050  Barbara Winn Adams Papers and Jane Austen Research Collection, 1815-1991

This collection contains personal materials including correspondence and photographs, records of book collecting, and a collection of articles about Jane Austen and her works, both as individual articles and whole journal issues.  

MS0053 Averil Hassall Collection

Averil G. Hassall, an Englishwoman born in 1910, was an enthusiastic fan of Jane Austen. In 1935, she met Alberta and Henry Burke by chance on a train ride while the Burkes were visiting England. This started her and Alberta’s friendship deeply grounded in Jane Austen. Through their friendship, Averil contributed greatly to Alberta’s personal Austen collection.

MS0055 Edith Lank Papers

Edith Lank was a Life Member of both JASNA and JAS and a former member of JASNA’s Board of Directors.  Her weekly real estate column appeared in more than 100 newspapers and web sites.  She was an avid Jane Austen collector who donated to Goucher College her Jane Austen papers and many translations of Austen's novels. MS 0060 Jane Austen Memorabilia Collection

This collection contains items such as Jane Austen games, buttons, souvenirs, and commemoration pieces.
