Sociology major with public health minor
Los Angeles, CA
"One of the most important aspects of the Goucher experience is how supportive and socially conscious the student body and faculty are."
What drew you to your major?
I intended to major in international relations before arriving at Goucher, but took
a sociology introduction course my first year and felt like the material and theories
were so thought-provoking and interesting when applied to societal issues. I was hooked
by the first day of class.
What led to your decision to transfer to Goucher?
I transferred from University of Hawai'i and transferred because I wanted to be more
academically challenged within a smaller institution.
What would you like to do after graduating?
After college I plan to either travel or apply to grad school for speech pathology
or public health.
What are your other interests or passions?
I am a big art history nerd and am passionate about traveling, which is definitely
why I chose Goucher-the study abroad component.
What do you consider to be the important aspects of the Goucher experience?
One of the most important aspects of the Goucher experience is how supportive and
socially conscious the student body and faculty are. Everyone that I have had the
chance of getting to know at Goucher has made me feel extremely comfortable and well
integrated into the community.
What advice would you give to those who are beginning the college application process
or are thinking about transferring schools?
I would advise those thinking of transferring to follow through if you think it means
that you will be happier in an academic setting where you will thrive and live up
to your best academic potential. Also remember to keep track of your credits and to
fight for every last one!
